How we began

Liesel’s Loop began with a hook, a ball of yarn, and a spark of frustration.

It began as a hobby when I taught myself how to crochet and found enjoyment crocheting amigurumi dolls - expressive little creations that brought comfort, character, and charm to my hobby table.

I found my perfect “go to” yarn, great quality 100% cotton yarn that gave my projects the professional finish I was looking for, and it came in over 100 colours.  The turning point for me was when the supplier suddenly ceased shipping to Australia, amongst other countries.  The beautiful yarn I was using, was no longer available. The loss wasn’t just inconvenient; it was a wake-up call. I realised how limited we are in Australia, obtaining 100% cotton yarn in a variety of colours. Sure, it wasn’t impossible to source cotton yarn via other means, but it came with huge shipping costs, and sure I could source it from other suppliers, but the quality just wasn’t the same and neither were the range of colours. Trust me, I tried a multitude of ways to source good quality yarn without spending a fortune.

That’s when Liesel’s Loop took shape - not just as a small business, but as a solution to a problem.  A solution to the big supply chains with limited colours, to the expensive cost purchasing from overseas, and limited supplies within Australia. 

Liesel’s Loop isn’t just about selling yarn - it’s about empowering makers, one loop at a time: to not be limited on colour choices and not be charged a fortune for quality products.
